Product bundles and gifting

Givy lets merchants create product bundles which can be gifted to recipients. When the gift is redeemed, the bundle expands into its components, and all bundled SKUs are added to the order

Why product bundles?

You may be wondering why Givy decided to add a product bundling feature - aren't we a gift cards and gifting app?

It turns out that most bundling apps use a Shopify feature at checkout to expand a bundled product into its component products. Givy also uses this same feature to convert physical products into digital gifts, allowing customers to send gifts without knowing the recipient's shipping address.

Unfortunately, this meant that Givy was not able to gift product bundles - until now! Our product bundles feature is launching with basic functionality, but will continue to improve as merchants require more advanced bundling options. Please reach out if you'd like us to support your store's use case.

Creating a bundle

Givy's product bundles allow you to create new Shopify products that represent many products and variants. When you create a bundle, we create a new product on your store, and associate it to its component sub-products.

First, open the Bundles page in the left navigation bar, then click Create bundle.

Choose a product name for the bundle product that will be created. Decide whether you'd like this product to be created as an Active or Draft product, then choose your pricing strategy. The bundle product can either be the sum of its components' prices, or it can be the sum minus a percentage discount.

Below this click on + Add product, and select the products you would like to include in this bundle.

Once the products have been added, you can set the quantity of each product to be included in the bundle

Save the bundle, then refresh the page a few seconds later to see your completed bundle product. To set the bundle product's image, click the View product in Shopify button, upload or create the product image, then save the product.

Variant options

Some products you include in your bundle might contain variants. You can decide which variants for each product you'd like to include in the bundle. Keep in mind that customers will see the name of each variant option, so name them to be easily identified.

When adding a product with variants, you can either include All variants, which will automatically add all current and future variants to the bundle. The other option is Specific variants, which will only add the options you select, and will not automatically add new product variants to the bundle.

On the product page, all variant options and their values will be displayed, and the bundle price will change accordingly.

Gifting flow

Now that our bundle product is configured, what will be the gifting experience for customers?

It will be identical to existing product gifting, but the bundle product will not be expanded into its component products until the recipient claims their gift. Throughout the gifting flow, only the parent bundle product will be displayed:

At checkout, the parent bundle product will be gifted:

When redeeming the gift, the customer will see the bundle product:

And finally, at checkout, the individual component products will be added to the cart, and included in the fulfillment order.

Can bundles be purchased without gifting?

Yes! While we created this feature to work specifically with Givy's gifting feature, any bundle you create in Givy can be purchased without being gifted. Note that there may be a transaction fee for orders containing these bundles, check the billing page in Givy.
