Sometimes customers want the ability to get a physical card mailed to them instead of a digital one. No problem! Using Givy, you can easily associate physical gift card codes to Givy gift cards then mail them to customers.
Purchase Physical Cards
Givy works with any standard Shopify gift card provider. You can purchase physical cards directly from Shopify and add your own logo, or use a third-party gift card provider.
We recommend using one that specifies they are compatible with Shopify. This means only alphanumeric characters that have at least 8 characters. If using Shopify POS, be sure that the barcodes or QR codes are readable by your scanner.
Create Physical Product
The first step is to create a new product on your store. We recommend calling it something that customers will recognize, like Gift Card (Physical Card).
When creating this product, be sure to set the product as a physical product with weight, and indicate that shipping is required. You can also choose to track inventory if you have a limited number of physical cards.
List Product on Store
Now that you have a new physical product, you can list it on your store like your digital gift card. We recommend having a gift cards collection that contains your digital and physical products so that customers can decide which one they want to purchase.
Fulfill Physical Gift Cards
Now, when a customer makes an order with the new physical gift card, your fulfillment team will need to pick one of the gift cards you have available, and in Givy, create a single gift card code. Choose to specify the code, enter the code for the gift card you will be sending, enter the amount that was purchased, then mail this card to the shipping address on the order.
You may want to create a Shopify Flow to tag orders with physical gift cards, or send your team a notification to create a gift card from a physical one.
