When you install Givy, we immediately enable some critical emails to ensure your gifting flows work. While our default email copy and styling is decent (in our opinion), we want you to spend some time customizing outgoing emails to make them feel like your own.
Sender Configuration
First, let's make sure that emails are coming from a name and email address that make sense. In the Givy app, open the Emails page, then click on Sender Config button.
Next, make sure the From name is the name you'd like customers to see in their inboxes. Typically, this should be your store name.
Then, confirm that the Reply to address is an email address that you monitor. Often, this will be a generic customer support email.
By default, all Givy emails will be from the email address [email protected] but customers won't notice this email. When they choose to reply to these emails, they'll go to your email address.
If you'd like to have emails sent directly from your own domain, you can configure that on this page. Learn how to Update DNS for Custom Email Domain.
Global Settings
Return to the Emails page, then look for the Global Settings button. This is where you configure your overall email template for all outgoing emails.
This page will present you with a number of styling and language options. Most are self-explanatory, such as font, colors, content width, etc..
Here are a few things you should know:
To view more of the email, click the expand arrow in the top-right corner
The Language tab is where you can add a multi-lingual footer with links
To add a header with your logo, check the Show Header checkbox for more options
Email Content
To edit the content of specific emails, click back to the Emails page in the app. Here, you'll see a list of every email Givy can send.
Emails are categorized into five sections:
Gift Cards
Sent when a gift card is purchased by a customer, and not sent as a gift
Cannot be disabled as it's part of the app's core functionality
Gifted Gift Cards
Sent when a gift card is purchased for somebody else
If the gift is being sent as a URL or printed, these will be sent to the purchaser
Cannot be disabled as it's part of the app's core functionality
Gifted Products
Sent when a product is purchased as a gift
If the gift is being sent as a URL or printed, these will be sent to the purchaser
Cannot be disabled as it's part of the app's core functionality
Gift Notifications
Optional emails, sent to the purchaser to let them know when a recipient receives their gift email, and redeem that gift
Merchant Notifications
Optional emails, these notify you when gift cards and products are purchased as gifts
The text in these notifications is not currently editable
We strongly recommend keeping the fraudulent order email enabled, as well as the POS order without an email address
To edit the content of one of these emails, simply click the Preview & Edit link, then update the text you'd like to change.
Most emails have some tokens you can use, which will be replaced with real values when the emails are sent. For a list of these, click the purple icon next to the headings.
